Kim Thittichai – Wild Atlantic Inspiration

Textile artist, tutor and author

About Kim

I am a textile artist, international tutor and author. I have had 4 books published by Batsford -Hot Textiles, Experimental Textiles, Layered Textiles and Reclaimed Textiles.

In Novemver 2016 I moved from the bright lights and chaotic traffic of Brighton on the South Coast of the UK, to the rather remote area of Fodra on the West Coast of County Clare – from the ridiculous to the sublime.

I am slowly settling in, and getting used to the rather extreme weather – mainly ferocious storm in the winter, but also rather warm summer days.
The beauty of the Loop Head Peninsula changes through the seasons and never disappoints. Around every corner there is new inspiration.

Living very close to Ross Bay I am becoming fascinated by the variety of seaweed that is to be discovered there. Such exciting colours, textures and forms. My other love is the strength and simplicity of the dry stones that are so prevalent in County Clare.

I have been teaching textile related courses for the past 25 years and am now teaching in my studio at home in Clare, and online.
For more information about my teaching – please see my website.

I write a regular blog about my work and interests that is fast becoming an advert for West Clare tourism.
